52 West Locally Brewed Beer
It all began with a text from Sam to Dave, “Hey, I have an idea! Let’s build a brewery amongst the wineries in Dahlonega, Georgia!” With Sam’s passion for marketing and Dave’s passion for beer they started their journey towards building their dream.
The Vision
When Sam and Dave purchased the property at 350 Highway 52 West, the vision was to transform the existing metal barn into the brewery however true to the idiom best laid plans, they needed to change direction and start from scratch. The old metal barn was demolished (some saved for later) and a new pole barn was erected in its place.

The Man Behind 52 West Brewing
This is Dave (and Sydney)
Dave has had a passion for beer for most of his life. When Sam presented the idea of building a brewery, his first response was “well, I don’t know anything about brewing beer.” But, what he did know was he was ready for a career change, had a passion for learning and he really really loves beer.
Meet Our Cows Fergus & Hamish
Fergus was born in Colorado, a pure Scottish Highland Steer. He is quite a character. He loves a good scratch on his neck and under his chin, loves feeding time and his best friend Hamish. You can find Fergus nibbling or napping either at the front pasture or the pasture behind the Hops Garden. He is curious and may come up to the fence for a scratch.
His half-brother Hamish is a High Park/Highland Steer. A bit smaller than his brother, he is sweet and gentle. He also loves to be brushed and the two are never far apart.
